Healthy Cooking and Baking Tips
The Dietitian will discuss the easy, healthy tips to incorporate into your cooking and baking routine.
Date/Time: Saturday, July 24th 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Fee: Free for YMCA member; $15 for Program Member
Sports Nutrition
This presentation will focus on nutrition for active individuals. We will discuss determining your calorie, carbohydrate, protein, fats, and fluid needs along with planning snacks and meals to help optimize performance.
Date/Time: Thursday, August 5th, 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Fee: Free for YMCA members; $15 for non-members
Nutrition for Healthy Aging
This class will discuss age related nutrition changes, calorie and nutrient needs as you get older, portion control, weight loss and weight gain. Samples of nutrition supplements and some easy to prepare recipes will be provided.
Date/Time: Tuesday, August 10th 12:00- 1:00 p.m.
Fee: Free for YMCA members; $15 for non-members
Eating Seasonally
The dietitian will discuss how to enjoy the seasonal foods that are growing in your garden, available at the farmer's market and in stores.

INTUITIVE EATING: Weight Management Class
Mercy Center for Weight Reduction's Intuitive Eating program - led by Katie Kruger, RD, LD - is designed for the "chronic dieter" and covers the "Ten Principles of Intuitive Eating" including:
- Reject the Diet Mentality
- Honor Your Hunger
- Make Peace with Food
- Challenge the Food Police
- Respect Your Fullness
- Discover the Satisfaction Factor
- Honor Your Feelings Without Using Food
- Respect Your Body
- Exercise - Feel the Difference
- Honor Your Health
The next 12-week series begins Monday, May 3rd and runs every Monday from 5:00-6:00 pm. Cost is $120 for YMCA members and Mercy employees and $180 for others (fee includes Intuitive Eating book). Mercy Weight Loss and Nutrition Center is pleased to offer the following classes free of charge to YMCA Healthy Living Center Members. All classes are taught by Mercy weight loss and wellness experts.
- July 21 at 1:00-2:00 p.m.: Procrastination ~ Don't do today what you can put off tomorrow. A look at why we procrastinate. Led by Dr. JIll Sudak-Allison, LMHC, LMFT
- July 27 at 5:30 p.m. or July 30 at noon: Antioxidants and Foods ~ Come learn what antioxidants are, which foods contain them and taste test food ideas to help fit them into your diet! Led by Lisa Stark, RD, LD
- July 28 1:00-2:00 p.m.: Honoring Your Body ~ Learn to love the body you have. Led by Dr. Jill Sudak-Allison, LMHC, LMFT
- The following classes are held weekly at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon on Fridays.
August 3 and 6: Healthy Summer Alternatives, Jessica Schroeder, R.D., L.D.
August 24 and 27: Adopting a Plant-Based Diet, Bridget Marcus
August 31 and September 3: Artificial and Natural Sweeteners, Katie Kruger, R.D., L.D.
